Experience & Background

For the record, I have not just taken an interest in municipal government because I decided to run for Council. I have in fact been learning about it, watching it and talking about it for years — always hoping to one day earn my Mother's chair when the time seemed right. Considering I will soon be retiring, the timing couldn't be better.

In 2018 I ran a very close second in a field of nine candidates and decided not to challenge Clare Riepma in the last election because at the time I thought he was doing a relatively good job.

I have now decided to draw on my years of municipal government connection, acute understanding of the responsibilities of a Councillor and how City Council works. I want to be a strong advocate for you, our Ward and the City — in that order.

Years of experience and involvement in our Ward 1 community, combined with my career in education, political science background, and — at the cost of blushing — independent critical thinking abilities, give me a perspective that is both personal and practical.
